39 Weeks Pregnant
At 39 weeks pregnant, your baby is the size of a small watermelon. Their hair is getting thicker. It will be exciting to see how much (or how little) they have at birth!
In 2017, 57% of babies were born in weeks 39 or 40. That means yours is likely to arrive soon!
Keep doing kick counts to monitor the baby’s movements. At this week’s prenatal visit, you may be checked again for signs of labor. Dilation is when the cervix opens. Effacement is when it thins, softens, and shortens. Both need to happen for vaginal delivery.
