What Is an Ultrasound?

An ultrasound test uses soundwaves to see inside your body. In pregnancy, it helps the doctor or midwife check on the fetus’s growth and development.

During your ultrasound, you’ll probably be able to see what’s happening on a screen. You may also get to take home printed or digital pictures.
