What Is an Affirmation?
Affirmations are positive statements or phrases that are helpful for challenging unhelpful thoughts you may have. They focus on your positive traits, values, and skills and commonly start with I am, I can, or I will.
Examples of affirmations include:
- I am enough.
- I am worthy of love.
- I can do this.
Think about what affirmations you could say to dispel challenging thoughts and self-criticism. Consider writing your favorite phrases on sticky notes and place them on your bathroom mirror. Or, create a list in your phone’s notes app that you can turn to when you need a boost.
