Kindness Is All Around You
When was the last time you listened to someone talk about their feelings, helped a stranger or a friend, or volunteered in your community? According to the Sesame Workshop State of Well-Being Report, 93% of people say they’ve practiced a form of kindness like one of these in the last three months.
According to a 2019 study by Rowland and Curry, performing acts of kindness can increase happiness and well‑being. The happiness of participants in this study increased with each act of kindness, no matter who they were directed toward, strangers or friends. Plus, this research found that even observing other people’s acts of kindness increases happiness.
With 9 out of 10 people practicing kindness regularly, there’s kindness all around us! Paying attention to it and contributing to it can increase happiness and well‑being for all.
