Improving Birth Outcomes for Black Families Starts with Support
While there’s a long way to go in ending the disparities in maternal health outcomes for the Black community, headway is being made by midwives, doctors, and doulas of color who can help educate and facilitate the safest birth possible for every parent and child.
Chanel Porchia-Albert is a doula and educator who is working to make affordable birthing education and care available to women of color. In this video, she explains how important it can be for a birthing parent to have an advocate during labor and delivery and how she’s making it her mission to provide that to everyone, regardless of race and socioeconomic status.
