We get it—exercise is a hard habit to maintain even when you’re not carrying another human inside your belly. But if you’re able to, exercise is a great way to promote your physical health during pregnancy.

It can also promote healthy weight gain during pregnancy and even help you lose the weight once you give birth.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists suggest striving for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week.

Moderate-intensity aerobic activity is any activity that gets your heart beating and your body sweating.

Try starting with low-impact movement, such as prenatal yoga or walks around the neighborhood. You can also incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Try doing some squats or calf raises while you’re doing the dishes.
