“It Was Through My Diagnosis That I Found My Passion:” A Dietitian’s MS Story
Multiple sclerosis (MS) can affect everyone differently, but it may provide comfort knowing what others are going through. In a series of videos, Twill Care expert dietitian Ahna Crum, R.D.N., who has MS herself, shares her story—including what prompted her to seek a diagnosis at age 15 and how living with MS helped her shape a meaningful career. Plus, Ahna shares her top tips for finding what works for you when it comes to healthy eating with MS.
Below, Ahna describes how an issue with her sight that occurred while learning to drive ultimately led to her diagnosis, and what that early time was like.
“At 18, I was pretty desperate to figure out a way to maintain my mobility for as long as possible,” Ahna says, about what led her to look into dietary changes as a part of her MS management. Having found improvements in her symptoms with lifestyle changes that included diet and exercise, Ahna was inspired to pursue a career in which she could help others find the same success in taking charge of their health and quality of life.
