What Exactly Is Self-Esteem?

Self-esteem is the judgment we make of ourselves, including of our own worth and abilities. Self-esteem and mental health are connected. Studies suggest that low self-esteem is associated with increased anxiety and depression and good self-esteem may be a protective factor for mental health. Doing things like spending quality time with friends and using positive self-talk can help reinforce good self-esteem.
